Does God give up on some people? An old word used in the King James version of the Bible is REPROBATE and it means “unapproved, i.e. rejected; by implication worthless (literal or moral) :- castaway, rejected, reprobate—” – Strong’s Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary.
So let’s examine a portion of scripture written by the apostle Paul.
Romans 1:28 (KJV) “And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;”
This says God surrenders and lets people that “were displeased with God, and chose to forsake him, and follow their own passions and lusts” (Barnes’ Notes on the New Testament), and refuse “To think of him, or to serve and adore him” (Barnes’ Notes on the New Testament), and will be turned over to a reprobate mind.
Barnes continues to clarify this truth by saying, “This was the first step in their sin. It was not that God compelled them; or that he did not give them knowledge; nor even is it said that he arbitrarily abandoned them as the first step, but they forsook him, and as a consequence he gave them up to a reprobate mind.” (Barnes’ Notes on the New Testament.)
God “…gave them up to a mind disapproved, rejected, reprobate,” αδοκιμον; and he means, that the state of their minds was such that God could not approve it. It does not mean that they were reprobate by any arbitrary decree; but that, as a consequence of their headstrong passions, their determination to forget him, he left them to a state of mind which was evil, and which he could not approve.” (Barnes’ Notes on the New Testament)
Clark states, “They Did Not Search to retain God in their knowledge. They did not examine the evidences before them (Romans 1:19, 20) of his being and attributes; therefore God gave them over to a Reprobate mind, εις αδοκιμον νουν, to an Unsearching or undiscerning mind; for it is the same word in both places. They did not reflect on the proofs they had of the Divine nature, and God abandoned them to the operations of a mind incapable of reflection.” (Adam Clarke’s Commentary)
Let’s read a fuller portion of this passage in the Amplified version.
Rom 1:18-32 AMP
18 For God’s [holy] wrath and indignation are revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who in their wickedness repress and hinder the truth and make it inoperative.
19 For that which is known about God is evident to them and made plain in their inner consciousness, because God [Himself] has shown it to them.
20 For ever since the creation of the world His invisible nature and attributes, that is, His eternal power and divinity, have been made intelligible and clearly discernible in and through the things that have been made (His handiworks). So [men] are without excuse [altogether without any defense or justification], [Ps 19:1-4.]
21 Because when they knew and recognized Him as God, they did not honor and glorify Him as God or give Him thanks. But instead they became futile and godless in their thinking [with vain imaginings, foolish reasoning, and stupid speculations] and their senseless minds were darkened.
22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools [professing to be smart, they made simpletons of themselves].
23 And by them the glory and majesty and excellence of the immortal God were exchanged for and represented by images, resembling mortal man and birds and beasts and reptiles.
24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their [own] hearts to sexual impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves [abandoning them to the degrading power of sin],
25 Because they exchanged the truth of God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, Who is blessed forever! Amen (so be it). [Jer 2:11.]
26 For this reason God gave them over and abandoned them to vile affections and degrading passions. For their women exchanged their natural function for an unnatural and abnormal one,
27 And the men also turned from natural relations with women and were set ablaze (burning out, consumed) with lust for one another–men committing shameful acts with men and suffering in their own bodies and personalities the inevitable consequences and penalty of their wrong-doing and going astray, which was [their] fitting retribution.
28 And so, since they did not see fit to acknowledge God or approve of Him or consider Him worth the knowing, God gave them over to a base and condemned mind to do things not proper or decent but loathsome,
29 Until they were filled (permeated and saturated) with every kind of unrighteousness, iniquity, grasping and covetous greed, and malice. [They were] full of envy and jealousy, murder, strife, deceit and treachery, ill will and cruel ways. [They were] secret backbiters and gossipers,
30 Slanderers, hateful to and hating God, full of insolence, arrogance, [and] boasting; inventors of new forms of evil, disobedient and undutiful to parents.
31[They were] without understanding, conscienceless and faithless, heartless and loveless [and] merciless.
32 Though they are fully aware of God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve to die, they not only do them themselves but approve and applaud others who practice them.
Three times Paul says God gives up hardened, rebellious people to:
1/ strong passions for sex,
2/ vile passions for homosexuality, and are given up to
3/ a twisted mind that is excited and thinks it is natural to long for and do these evil things.
In another letter Paul again adds these thoughts, “This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, 18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; 19 who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.” [Ephesians 4:17-19].
The mindset of a whole culture in this state is devastating to a nation. When the majority of people in a nation are conquered by this mentality, culture disintegrates, and the results are hard-hearted, selfish people, seeking pleasure and new thrills to satisfy their all consuming desires. Today in America, it is the post-Christian era and the return of paganism, with a techno-pop culture wrapped in the fast lane of instant gratification. This is not new, but the return of ancient Greece and Rome, but in a modern setting. Therefore, the Bible is more than adequate to supply Christians with answers to this age old dilemma.
Black and white are gone in the view of right and wrong, gray is the only color in most of America. “What is right for you, is not necessarily right for me,” most say. The Creator disagrees and America is facing severe judgment.
As other nations before her, America suppresses the truth! Can you pray and talk about God in government controlled schools? NO! All children are brainwashed in school with evolutionary doctrines of life, taught free immoral, sexually expression is normal, and encouraged to create their own truth because there is no standard but what is best for them.
The depraved minds of today have spent much time redefining the moral code as each successive generation of Americans have done. They reinterpret the law, rewrite our history, and include what was previously considered immoral and reject those old “straight-laced,” or old-fashioned “rigid rules” of yesteryear. The Bible is out, they make up their own rules to suit themselves. We are left with a guiltless and ruthless society of evil doers according to God’s Word, and many are stupid enough to think they are actually going to heaven when they die.
Adultery, sex outside of marriage, and homosexuality are all accepted, and many of these individuals go to church, or just believe in God in their “own way”, but are deceived to think God is with them. Be aware of this, rejecting God’s standards, as clearly stated in scripture, will bring you to hell, not heaven. A delusion of what is truth carries you into a life of eternal crime and the real punishment of an angry and holy God. We beg you to turn from these lies and sins, and instead receive Christ’s way of forgiveness and salvation. He is the only way to heaven!
But that is not the only issue! Paul further explains, “Now just as Jannes and Jambres were hostile to and resisted Moses, so these men also are hostile to and oppose the Truth. They have depraved and distorted minds, and are reprobate and counterfeit and to be rejected as far as the faith is concerned.” 2 Tim 3:8 (AMP)
1 Timothy 4:1-2 (NLT)
1 Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons.
2 These people are hypocrites and liars, and their consciences are dead.
Many churchgoers have carried this evil into the church but disguised with spiritual power and wisdom, they are destroying the name of Christ. Here Paul describes these reprobates as hostile to the truth but deep inside the church. This increases the darkness already surrounding the church. He describes the wicked culture disguised as a form of Christianity, but actively repressing and hindering the truth of Christ.
The more you look at this the more the faithful need to see a growing conflict rushing toward us desiring to drown us completely.
But do not be afraid, the Lord warned us a long time ago how messy the church got from the very beginning. John writes, “Dear children, the last hour is here. You have heard that the Antichrist is coming, and already many such antichrists have appeared. From this we know that the last hour has come. 19 These people left our churches, but they never really belonged with us; otherwise they would have stayed with us. When they left, it proved that they did not belong with us. 20 But you are not like that, for the Holy One has given you his Spirit, and all of you know the truth.” 1 John 2:18-20 (NLT)
Currently, people are leaving the American church and refusing to agree with God’s word on morality, marriage, and sin in general. They do not love the people of the church, ways of living the lifestyle of Jesus, including mercy, forgiveness, and sacrifice.
In the U.S., socialists, atheists, homosexual extremist, and extremely wicked people are forcibly trying to silence and dominant the church. They are hostile, not tolerate to the followers of Jesus.
Antichrist sentiment is in the air.
